Environment Canada releases severe weather warnings, watches and advisories, for the sake of people and property. While people will commonly interchange weather watch and weather warning, there is an imperative distinction between the two. A weather watch alerts people to the possibility of severe weather, citing the fact that conditions are favorable for the creation of certain severe weather systems. A weather warning informs the public of the fact that the severe weather systems are occurring, and that people should respond accordingly. In this way a weather watch will proceed a weather warning. Finally a weather advisory announces that actual or expected weather conditions or imminent but not severe enough as to warrant a weather warning. An example of a watch would be that of Tornadao watch, which speaks of the proper conditions for a Tornado, but not of one being sighted yet. Once a Tornado is sighted then the watch will turn into a warning. This picture is of a Tornado watch that happen a couple of days ago in Edmonton. Note: I am not in the picture because I could not capture the screen and myself, the screen always was blurry.
