The Microthermal D climates receive relatively small amounts of of heat and are found exclusively in the northern hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere does not support the D climates due to its lack of landmasses and the effect of continentality. There are two subtypes of the D climate, they are Df verity and Dw variety. The Df variety experiences precipitation throughout the year; near the C climate boundary the Df climate can exhibit warm summers, but in the interior and towards the higher latitudes the summers are shorter and much cooler. The Dw climate is encountered where the effects of continentality are most pronounced. The winters are harsh and dry, and the annual moisture total is lower then in the Df climate. This picture is of me in Yellowknife putting up a tent, Yellowknife is located in the northern part of the Df climate that covers a great deal of Canada.
