Chapter 4 - The Sun

The sun accounts for 99.8 per cent of the total mass of the solar system, more than 750 times the mass of all the planets combined, and this is the dominant body of the solar system. This means that the suns gravitational field extends far out into space, and controls the movement of planets up to 6 billion km away form it. The sun is a star, which means that it is a churning thermonuclear furnace, composed mainly of superheated hydrogen and helium gases mixed a ratio of approximately 3:1. From its surface and atmosphere radiates enormous quantities of light and heat in the form of a stream of  rapidly moving atomic particles. Thus, the sun dominates and dictates the universe, establishing the position and movement of the planetary bodies, bathing these bodies in light and energy, ensuring that light is possible. This is a picture of my wife with the norther sun in Yellowknife.
