Chapter 15 - The Forecasting Industry

Environment Canada Meteorological Service provides weather forecasts and warnings of extreme weather events and hazardous air quality. This is an automated service, and one the most highly automates system in the world, its infrastructure ranging from traditional thermometers to high-tech radar and satellite technology. The computer forecasting method is called numerical weather prediction, and is based on projections that are drawn from small increments of time. Weather forecasts effect our day to day life, as well as industry such as aviation and fisheries, and also the military in various parts of the world.
